Description: Dress for Success Twin Cities' Confidence Coach position is a volunteer opportunity to offer guidance and assistance for one or more of our clients, with the goal of empowering them with the skills and tools they need to thrive both in work and in life. The Confidence Coach is a flexible position, based on volunteer availability and client coaching needs. Hours per week and/or month will vary based on volunteer and client engagement, as well as active coaching requests. The primary purpose of the Confidence Coach is to listen, encourage, offer resources and guidance to clients with their various career advancement needs during one-on-one coaching sessions.
Responsibilities:
• Attend all live training sessions or listen to recordings to ensure that coaching adheres to organization's client-centered, trauma-responsive, and holistic service approach.
• Attend client programming as frequently as possible to better understand client needs, services provided, and follow-up with clients who request assistance during classes and events.
• Attend coach meetings as frequently as possible to maintain "Active Confidence Coach" status, share client concerns, gather and share information and resources, and maintain healthy client/coach boundaries.
• Reach out to clients in a timely manner (within 2-3 business days) when requested via phone, email, or text to assist clients with job search and career advancement coaching needs (**Please reach out via all three methods only once and allow clients to engage. We do not continue to reach out to clients if they do not respond initially or at all).
• Consistently follow up with client on a long-term basis to continue support, encouragement, and information sharing. We request coaches to check in once a month with each of their clients.
• Practice and model healthy professional boundaries by utilizing Google Voice app on cell phone or computer.
• Focus on career development when coaching. If additional resources are required, do your best to refer to outside organizations that can best assist clients.
• Complete the Coach Check-In form after every coaching session (or significant email exchange) to update staff on client status, service and resource referral needs.
• Arrive early for all online and in-person appointments.
• Calmly assist client to find solutions for unanticipated challenges that may arise.
Qualifications:
-personal experience (for self-and/or assisting others) with career advancement coaching including job search assistance (resume, cover letter, interview prep, LinkedIn creation and updates), salary and benefit negotiation, and successful on-boarding
-previous career or life coaching experience
-empathy and compassion for individuals from a variety of backgrounds, circumstances, and all walks of life
-excellent verbal and non-verbal communication and customer service skills
-demonstrated on-going flexibility and follow-through to meet ever-changing demands in a fast-paced organization
-growth mindset with excellent accountability and follow-through
-initiative and ability to work independently with little direction
-ability to learn new technology and platforms
